Lawn extension with turf
The owners of this garden have young children and as it stands the garden is not ideal for them. The lawn is hidden from the house by climbing shrubs. The plan, to unify the garden into a space suitable for children and low maintenance.
This area is not great for children offering trip hazards and hard surfaces.
The view from the house shows the existing lawn hidden from sight.
With the shrubs removed from the centre of the garden the space can be appreciated.
A flowing curve has been cut along the existing slabs to form a nice border.
Mono block is laid along the edge to provide a visual edge to the slabbed area.
Using some of the saved slabsa path has been extended to meet the garden gate.
The slabbed area here has been removed and the ground levelled.
With the removal of slabs and gravel the level of the garden has dropped. This is then topped up with topsoil to allow turfing.
This area is topped up, level and ready for turfing.
The remaining area has been topped up with soil, levelled and the turf is in the process of being laid. As it was a dry sunny day the soil has been watered in front of the turf.
The turfing has been completed and watered well.

Now completed the garden seems much larger and more unified. There is room for children to play and be observed from the house. Maintenance is now mostly grass cutting with few areas for weeds to take root.
